Online & Personal Purchases

Online and Personal Purchases are shipments meant for personal use and must be accompanied by a commercial invoice or bill of sale. Regardless of the origin of the goods, Canada Customs requires the payment of the GST (5%) and/or PST/HST (depending on the province). Duty and taxes are calculated based on the Canadian value and tariff classification of the goods.

Non-resident services

With the ever-changing market conditions and our free trade agreement across North America, a competitive advantage for U.S. and foreign companies to import into Canada has been created.

a non-resident importer

A Non-Resident Importer (NRI) is a company, organization, or individual designated as the Importer of Record responsible for all Customs duties and/or taxes and fees related to importing into Canada.

Choosing to do business in Canada as a non-resident importer of record has many benefits, including managing the costs, consistency, and control of your shipments.

It is important to consider the benefits of registering your non-resident business with the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Registering for GST/HST will allow your business to claim an input tax credit to recover the GST/HST issued to the Government of Canada.

If you choose not to register for GST/HST, as your Customs Broker, we can apply for a business number on your behalf. For more information and a step-by-step process on how to become a non-resident importer, please see the below links or call us directly at 1-888-739-4002
